In a dynamic collaboration, PETROMAT joined forces with SCGC to host an enlightening seminar titled “Polymerizing Academic-Industrial Partnerships in R&D Catalyzed by SCGC – Xplore – PETROMAT.” The seminar focused on High-Throughput Experimentation (HTE), with a particular emphasis on polyolefin research.
The event took place at the Chulalongkorn University Research Building on October 18, 2023 and featured distinguished speakers from Xplore, a university spinoff company based in Napoli, Italy. A diverse audience of academic and industrial researchers attended the lecture and engaged in networking opportunities.
The seminar commenced with an opening speech by Prof. Hathaikarn Manuspiya, introducing PETROMAT’s “Hub of Talents: Sustainable Materials for Circular Economy.” Dr. Luca Rongo and Mr. Guillaume Magan from Xplore then captivated the audiences by delving into the details of HTE workflows and Xplore’s services in the sphere of polyolefin experiments and applications.
HTE is a high technology that enables researchers to conduct a large number of small-scale polyolefin synthesis experiments, thereby identifying promising candidates for upscaling. This approach not only saves time and reduces costs but also minimizes chemical consumption and waste by screening small-scale experiments before moving on to bench- and pilot-scale trials.
Beyond its significance in polyolefin research, HTE is equally applicable to various polymer studies, including upcycling, where oligomers from plastic waste can be synthesized into other types of polymers, contributing to the advancement of the circular economy.
