Professor Hathaikarn Manuspiya, Director of PETROMAT, played a pivotal role as the chairperson during a session at the “Japan-Thailand Bilateral Symposium of Advanced Materials for Sustainable Society 2023,” hosted by Chulalongkorn University at the CU Research Building on October 9, 2023.
Speakers for this session included Professor Atsuki Takahara (Kyushu University), Professor Naoko Yoshie (University of Tokyo), and Professor Sandhya Babel (Thammasat University). Together, they delved into topics related to polymer degradation, microplastics formation and assessment, and aquatic functional polymers. The insights gained from these discussions are invaluable for developing strategies to address microplastic issues and for advancing the creation of sustainable materials.
On the following day, October 10, Professor Boonyarach Kitiyanan, PETROMAT’s Deputy Director also joined this symposium to talk about collaborative opportunities in building research projects between the two countries.
