PETROMAT and HubSustainMat Co-host 5th Zero-C & 1st i-SMaT, Aiming to Drive Net Zero

PETROMAT and HubSustainMat co-hosted the Fifth International Symposium on Socio-technical Innovation for Zero Carbon in Asian Countries (5th Zero-C) and the First International Symposium on Materials Technology for Sustainable Society (1st i-SMaT) from October 24–26, 2024, at the Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University. This event brought together students, academics, researchers, and industry experts to foster collaboration for sustainable development.

In partnership with Chulalongkorn University and Nagoya University’s International Collaborative Program in Sustainable Materials and Technology for Industries (i-SMaT), led by Assoc. Prof. Sirilux Poompradub, the symposia began with opening remarks from Prof. Pornanong Aramwit (Acting Vice President of Chulalongkorn University), Prof. Pranut Potiyaraj (Dean of the Faculty of Science), and Prof. Naoshi Sugiyama (Nagoya University).

The second day highlighted sessions on industry perspectives and policy discussions, with PETROMAT inviting keynote speakers including Mr. Rongphet Bunchuaidee (Deputy Executive Director, TGO), Dr. Krit Sitathani (Assistant Managing Director, Kasikorn Research Center), and Mr. Panitan Junhasavasdikul (President of Innovation Group) to share their insights.

Their presentations addressed Thailand’s roadmap to net zero, the roles of private and financial sectors in advancing this mission, and sustainable practices in the plastics and rubber industries, marking an essential step forward in Thailand’s journey toward a sustainable, low-carbon future.
