The event was held under the Marine Litter Prevention through Reduction, Sustainable Design, and Recycling of Plastic Packaging (MA-RE-DESIGN) project.[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”8170″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_single_image image=”8171″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/12″][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1\/12″][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”5\/6″][vc_column_text]Featuring three speakers from Taiwan and Thailand, the seminar brought together 55 participants from academia and the industry ecosystem. Opening remarks were delivered by the Head of HubSustainMat, Prof. Hathaikarn Manuspiya, and the Project Director of MA-RE-DESIGN at GIZ Thailand, Mr. Alvaro Zurita.[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”8173″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_single_image image=”8174″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/12″][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1\/12″][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”5\/6″][vc_column_text]Ms. Chin-Shan Chen, Leader of the Sustainable Materials Library (SML) at Taiwan\u2019s Plastics Industry Development Center (PIDC), introduced the SML, which houses 1,000 plus sustainable materials from over 300 suppliers. The SML is a resource for students, designers, producers, and supply chain stakeholders, enabling cross-sector collaboration in eco-packaging development.[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”8176″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_single_image image=”8172″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/12″][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1\/12″][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”5\/6″][vc_column_text]She highlighted strategies such as mono-material design, removal of unnecessary plastic, closed-loop manufacturing, improved waste sorting and recycling, and the adoption of clean technologies and renewable energy. Assoc. Prof. Tatiya Trongsatitkul of Suranaree University of Technology presented her innovation \u2018K-dle\u2019\u2014a sustainable alternative to single-use plastic foam fruit nets. Made primarily from natural rubber, K-dle has a negative carbon footprint, is reusable up to 40 times, and is fully biodegradable. Already prepared for commercialization, the innovation recently won the Eco-design Sparking Innovation Competition\u2019s Excellent Startup Award!!!<\/div>\n
